Permit/Certificate Levels

What do some of these Permit/Certificates means?  What do these levels mean? Here are some recognized permits/certificates used here in Illinois.

Missouri

Permit / Certification Validation

Provisional
Permit
a. Valid for 1 year with possibility of 1 year extension.
b. Must be re-evaluated within one year of date of issuance.
    1.  If re-evaluation results in same level, Provision Permit will be reissued.
    2.  If re-evaluation results in higher level, a new permit or certification will be issued.
 
c.  By the end of 1 year extension, the permit holder must obtain at least Apprentice level or better - or the holder will not be granted any certification/permit.
    1.  If applicant fails to obtain Apprentice level, he/she must refrain from testing, for a period of 6 months.
Apprentice
Permit
 a.  Valid for two years with the possibility of a 2 years extension.
b.  Must be re-evaluated within 2 years of the date of issuance.
    1.  If re-evaluation results in same level, Apprentice Permit will be reissued.
    2.  If re-evaluation results in higher level, a new permit or certification will be issued.
 
c.  By the end of 2 year extension, the permit holder must obtain at least Intermediate level or better or the holder will not be granted a permit or certification.
    1.  If applicant fails to obtain Apprentice level, he/she must refrain from testing for a period of 6 months.
Intermediate
Certificate
 a.  Permanent if there are no violations of certification/licensure laws and regulations.

b.  Voluntary re-evaluation will result in some or higher level.

c.  Required re-evaluation may result in higher, lower, same, or no level granted.

Advanced
Certificate
a.  Permanent if there are no violations of certification/licensure laws and regulations

b.  Voluntary re-evaluation results in same or higher level.

c.  Required re-evaluation may result in higher, lower, same or no level granted.

Comprehensive
Certificate
a.  Permanent if there are no violation of certification/licensure laws and regulations.

b.  Required re-evaluation may result in same, lower, or no level granted.
